Blake Lively Hairstyle Tutorials

Statuesque bombshell Blake Lively has became one of Young Hollywood’s most buzzed about fashionistas thanks to a starring role on Gossip Girl. Lucky for you, her fashion sense and her hairstyle are fairly easy to mimic.

To get healthy and shiny hair like Blake Lively

Try this inexpensive but effective conditioning treatment you can make at home: Mix ¼ cup each of mayo, egg whites and olive oil and apply the concoction to damp hair. The protein and cholesterol will restore shine to lackluster locks if you leave it in for 30 minutes, massage it into the scalp and the ends, and shampoo and condition as usual.

The styling part

Items you need:

1. Heat Protective Spray

2. 32mm or 38mm curling tong

3. Elastic Bands

4. Hair Spray

Blake Lively's look is easy to copy if you have long, straight hair. Towel dry your hair and blow dry haphazardly, using your fingers to tousle and scrunch the ends to play up any natural waves you may already possess. Once your hair is dry, wrap 3-inch sections around a large barrel curling iron (in a vertical, not horizontal, motion), to create loose spirals.

EXTRA: Wrap hair around the curling iron and remove it almost immediately to get this wave instead of a big curl," Gossip Girl's on-set hairstylist, Jennifer Johnson says. (InStyle,2010)

Use your fingers to undo some of the curls you've created and spritz your hands with medium hold hairspray. Run them through your hair for long-term hold that’s not sticky or stiff.

Blake Lively’s style is boho-chic and she often wears braids that capture this free spirit. Instead of wearing a braid down her back, she opts for a few small braids at the front of her hair. Make this Lively hairstyle your own by finger-combing a styling cream into dry hair. Start your braids by grabbing a 1-centimeter section of hair at the root (in the front where bangs grow). Secure with invisible elastics and repeat three to six times, depending on the number of braids you crave.

Experiment with the thickness and placement of the braids just for fun. If you’re feeling fearless, wrap one braid around the crown of your head like a headband. Create your braid from a 1-inch section of hair that starts just above one ear. Braid it from root to tip, and pull it across the top of your head, tucking and pinning it behind the other ear. Leave the rest down or pull it into a ponytail.

Volumize Your Hair With Straighteners

The trends for spring summer 2010.

Haircuts, what are the lengths and the styles that will be 'trendy to wear' during the warm season of 2010? As the official haircare sponsors of London Fashion Week, the TONI&GUY Session Team work their magic backstage on over 20 catwalk shows and presentations each season. While working on the Spring/Summer 2010 shows the team created a series of inspiring, trend-setting hair. Hot for 2010 includes classic ballerina buns, big feminine voluminous hair and a focus on texture and finish, whether it is the slicked back wet look or polished and groomed with natural movement.

And what about the hairdos for long and for short hair?

This season, hair is about being playful and rebellious so if you have long hair try braiding it. If you feel braiding is too twee then try a fish tail plait for a rougher, edgier look. As for short hair, it is about movement and texture, so make sure hair has slight volume and doesn't lie flat to the head.

A 'do not' advice for our readers.

The mistake they should avoid if they want to have a trendy and modern hairstyle this summer. Do not neglect your hair in the summer. This summer, it is all about beautiful healthy hair and prolonged exposure to the sun tends to dry it out.
Keep hair in perfect condition. Protein Hair Creame (Suggestion: Himalaya Hearbals which is available at most Guardian Outlets) it contains UV Sunscreen to act as a shield against harmful rays and colour fade.

(Adversus, 2010)

Based on the Fashion info above, BIG HAIR is definitely in fashion now. There are few ways to achieve fluffy and airy hairs. Back combing, curling and straightening are some of the options, just to name a few. Nevertheless, today I'm showing you how to achieve textures, movement and volume by just using straighteners. Do take note that back combing your hair too often may cause you to have hair thinning over prolonged period. Before you begin.....

Items you need:
  1. Hair Clips
  2. Straighteners
  3. Heat Protective Spray
  4. Crafting Clay (as in video) or Hairspray (I would reccomend extra hold if you're going out for a long time)
  5. Straightening Comb (it is not used in this video, but I highly reccomend you to get one for it will allow every strand of your hair to be straightened and of course looked more arranged; We are selling it for RM15)
Note: Choose the right amount of heat to apply to your hair, basically thinner hair requires lower heat. To determine the right amount of heat to your hair, start with lower tempretures. You can see the tempreture indicator level as on our straighteners. Now, you can proceed.
